Beautiful Revival HD capture of this classic cult show with no obstructions.

Last Five Years, the
New Haven (CT)/America - May 24, 2014 - Matinee

Katie Rose Clarke (Cathy), Adam Halpin (Jamie).

A near perfect capture, shot fairly close to the stage so the picture is extra clear and steady with no washout whatsoever. There are a couple heads that can be seen at the bottom of the screen occasionally, but they never block the action. There are a couple very quick dropouts in the first three minutes. The sound is excellent. It’s filmed in 16:9 with mostly mediums and close-ups, and a few wides here and there. Includes curtain call.

Last five years
San Fransisco/America - May 14, 2016 - Evening

Zak Resnick, Margo Seibert.

A fantastic production by San Francisco’s ACT. Zak and Margo give superb performances; funny, touching, and heartbreaking where needed. This is captured very well with no blackouts and just some slight washout in a couple wider shots. There is one head on the left side that leans in occ., but is worked around well when necessary. It’s filmed in 16:9, in mostly mediums and close-ups, with the occasionally wider shot. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans. A

Last Five Years, The
La Miranda (LA)/America - February 4, 2017

Devin Archer (Jamie), Natalie Storrs (Cathy)

A solid regional production of this lovely show in La Mirada. Devin and Natalie each have their own unique take on the characters and the music. This is very well captured overall with no washout and no major blackouts. There are some heads that block the front part of the stage, but they are worked around fine and only really block the action during a few seconds of See, I’m Smiling. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans. A-

A great capture of Sting’s run before the show closed. Very well captured overall, there is no washout, pretty dark capture. Just one blackout at the beginning of act two for Mrs. Dees’ Rant. There are a couple other quick dropouts, and a couple heads at the bottom that occasionally block the actor’s feet but are rarely noticeable. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans. A-

A hilarious production of this classic play. Davis, John, and Paul are all perfectly cast and have great comedic timing. This is a near perfect capture with no washout and no blackouts. There are some small heads at the bottom of the screen, but they do not affect the action. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Hugh Panaro (Lestat), Carolee Carmello (Gabrielle), Drew Sarich (Armand), Jim Stanek (Louis), Allison Fischer (Claudia), Steve Wilson (u/s Marquis)

Decent quality recording. The first few minutes of the recording are shakey with some blackouts (but still full audio) due to late comers, but after it is steady. There are some heads and the railing of the circle in some places, however these are nicely filmed around and don't spoil the picture. There are also some nice close ups. Includes curtain call. Quality: B+

A great capture of this fun and energetic show during it’s Off-Broadway run. The sets/props are minimal but inventive, and the music is very catchy.  There is a railing that can occasionally be seen at the bottom of the screen, but it never blocks more than the actors’ feet. The video occasionally wanders just a little, and there are a couple quick dropouts, but no major blackouts. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. The show is 60 minutes with no intermission. Includes playbill scans.

An excellent capture of this production and phenomenal cast. The first minute or so of act one is blacked out, and there are a few quick drop-outs throughout the show, but nothing major. There are some heads at the bottom, but no major obstructions. There's also a bit of washout in some of the wides. Filmed with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups.

Because of latecomers and people moving constantly, "Now, Later, Soon" and a scene in Act Two are taken from the 5/4/10 performance, the beginning of "Liaisons" is from a few days earlier as is the last minute of Act One. Phenomenal show with an innovative take on the classic play, and Alan Cumming gives an amazing performance. A few blackouts (seconds long) and moments of wandering, but mostly its really well-shot and steady and unobstructed. The set has video-screens that show close-ups, and I shot those when the rest of the stage was pitch black.

A great video of the recently opened Vienna production of Mary Poppins. The show, which uses the US tour staging here, he adult leads are all fantastic. The video is shot from the circle with no obstructions and an excellent view of the stage. Shot in 4K with a lot of close-ups. Camera occasionally wanders during dialogue, but it's generally good during the songs. There was some obstruction on the right side that I couldn't work around (as you can see in the screenshots), but altogether most of the action is captured as the staging of the show puts everything major in the center.
